Woodland Troll (UN-B-717)
2. An extract taken from "portents of evil" 1678, a pamphlet authored by reverend Alexander O'Connor, warning his parishioners of the many supernatural dangers apparent in the community, in this case of the "little folk".
"Be warned too of halflings, for they desyre your bairns (children). They steal away your first born and in it's place, leave one of their own.".
And that the only manner in which a parent could find out if their child had been taken - was the test of fire.
"... halflings be afeared of fire and should the flame come too close will be forced to expose their true form and flee back to their own kind - leaving the balance addressed, with your own bairn returned.."
